This is our third Foreman Grill. I loved the first one, then loved the second one even more because it had removable plates. Now comes this third beautiful grill, also with removable plates, that improves even more on the last version.
This unit has a lovely, silver finish that looks very modern and stylish. It has large, double hinged hinges that expand and accomodate large, bulky foods. My last model had an adjustable temperature control, which I liked, but the beauty of this current model is the addition of a digital display for both the temperature and time. The manual lists suggested times for different styles of food, and the recommended temperatures for various food types are listed right inside the upper grill. The unit heats quickly and evenly, and I went from raw, frozen chicken skewers to fully cooked chicken skewers (complete with grill marks!) in 20 minutes. Not bad for a quick weekday meal.
I have always liked the Foreman units because they are fast and convenient, but most of all because all the fat I would normally be eating runs down and out of the grill into the nice plastic catch-all tray that comes with the unit. It is perfect for chicken breasts, salmon fillets, and burgers, although you can really use it to cook almost anything. My family particularly enjoys when I use this grill to cook steaks, such as the smaller boneless fillets from Omaha Steaks or the flash frozen steak fillets you can get from the supermarket. The temperature controls give more control over the heat, which is also constant because of the heavy lid, so steaks tend to come out more evenly cooked and tender than when I try and grill them. This unit, in addition to the grilling plates, also comes with a bake plate and a slider plate to make mini burgers. The plates remove for easy cleaning, and then you simply wipe down the exterior of the unit. (if you want to or care to, that is).
I have cooked hundreds of meals on my last Foreman grill and I will cook hundreds more with this one. Adding the additional level of cooking control with the new, variable cooking temps (300-425 degrees) provides an extra layer of versatility that I really like. The unit now beeps when the desired temperature is reached when you preheat, which I greatly prefer over having to wait for the green light to go off. This unit moves the product line in the 21st century with some great refinements.
